Comic & Photo Books by young people living in K’jipuktuk-Halifax, NS, Canada

We are very happy to share four recently published books with artworks produced by young participant artists living in K’jipuktuk-Halifax.

Through these four books – a collection of comics and three photo books – young people explore stories and lived experiences of forced migration and immobility through a broad range of themes including nature, weather, money, food, happiness, education, time, and socialising, as well as administrative limbo, Covid-19 and isolation, costs of living, mobility and labour deskilling, and belonging. These artworks are the result of a series of creative participatory workshops (CPWs) ran in collaboration with the Halifax Refugee Clinic and the Youth Outreach Team at the YMCA Centre for Immigrant Programmes of Greater Halifax and Dartmouth between April and July 2026.
